Getting Onto the Base

MCAS Miramar sits along Miramar Road in northern San Diego, between Interstate 15 and Interstate 805, about 15 miles north of downtown. There are two main ways in: the Main (East) Gate off the MCAS Miramar/Miramar Way exit on I-15, or the North/West Gates off the Miramar Road exit on I-15 or I-805.

Gates open at 8:00 AM each day, with ticket holders able to check into designated areas starting at 9:00 AM. Because this is an active military installation, security is genuinely stricter than a typical civilian event, everyone 18 and older needs valid government-issued photo ID, and bag policies are enforced closely (clear bags only for most items, with specific exceptions for diaper bags and similar).
